Nuby Natural Touch: SoftFlex™ Infafeeder™

So, it's official... I'm a Nuby Mommy Blogger and I am super duper excited to apart of the Nuby Family. Now, with that being said, here is my first review.

Here is the Nuby Natural Touch: SoftFlex™ Infafeeder™. This bottle is great for your little feeder. It's a soft hygienic silicon bottle that assists feeding baby by gently squeezing the body of the bottle. Just as your baby gets used to feeding from a nipple, they now have to move to first solids. The SoftFlex™ Infafeeder™ offers a fully interchangeable solution with your bottles and can be used to introduce babies to their first foods.

The BPA free SoftFlex™ bottle allows you to squeeze the right amount of baby food onto the silicone spoon, which is soft on sensitive gums.

I was pleasantly surprised with this bottle. It is a creative and unique way to feed your growing baby.  I am a mommy who does not like when I feed my baby and it becomes a little messy. This is an alternative method. Just put the baby food in and squeeze the bottle. It only takes a small squeeze and the baby is eating before you know it. In addition, it is anti-colic base, and I can say that my baby had no colic issues, while feeding from this bottle.

I have not had any problems with food getting stuck when exiting the opening of the spoon. It is also quick to prepare and easy to clean. Certain foods may stain the bottle, but it is not a deal breaker. The older your little one gets, the more likely he will want to squeeze and feed himself. Another added bonus is that if your baby is teething, he will want to chew on the spoon. Mine did and it soothed her itchy gums, while she ate her food.

I would recommend this bottle for individuals looking for a cute, innovative way to feed their little one.
Trust me!!! You will definitely turn heads when using this bottle around others.

So Far, So Good!

Well Mommy School is going strong. It's now Week 1 and the girls and I are moving ahead. They have learned about Verbs, Adding 2 and 1 digits numbers, tenth place and ones place, weather, seasons, exercising, and they are increasing their vocabulary. Both of them received an A+ on their spelling test this past Friday. We also went on a field trip to Lowe's Build and Grow, our local city square, and Chick-fil-A. I also stopped by the library so that they can participate in their reading programs. In addition, I'm finding more websites that follow the Common Core Standards and websites that are geared toward education.

The following are websites I've used and will continue to use:

Honestly, I am pooped. This week VBS (Vacation Bible School) is being held at one of our neighborhood churches and the girls will be there faithfully everyday. In the meantime, I will be trying my best to rest, but that hasn't been going so well.

Stay tuned. I see another field trip in the making.

Mommy School!!!!!

So, for the past couple of years, I have been conducting summer school in my home. It consists of my 3 girls and it is called "Mommy School." I come from a long line of educators. (I for one didn't think education was for me, therefore I my post graduate studies consisted of a MBA in Healthcare). But somehow, I am doing what I'd never thought I would do; TEACH!!! Who knew!!!!!

I must say that my girls love it. The school is only conducted in the summer months. Since, I am a stickler for organization, structure, and schedules, I just could not have my girls doing nothing for the entire summer. I also wanted them to continue learning, but somehow make it fun for them. So in the Summer of 2011, I began "Mommy School." Every weekday morning, my girls are required to get up and get completely dress (teeth brushed, clothes put on, & shoes), eat breakfast (which is prepared by myself or they independently fix cereal), and put on their school shirts. Yep, we are in the process of designing schools shirts. These shirts are to be worn every school day and on field trips.

As I stated above, my family are educators, so it seems befitting to have their assistance. In teaching, I follow the The Common Core State Standards. The Common Core State Standards provide a consistent, clear understanding of what students are expected to learn, so teachers and parents know what they need to do to help them. I also use Google and Bing to find free printable worksheets that are coherent to the Common Core State Standards. Mommy School's curriculum consists of the following: ELA (English, Language Arts, & Writing), Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Music, Home Economics, Arts & Crafts, Technology, Health, and PE (Physical Education). I also include Movie & Popcorn Fridays and of course Field Trips. Our field trips, which takes place during the weekday or weekend, range from going to swim parks, the library, and outdoor parks, to free events for children like Lowe's Build and Grow or Homedepot's Free Kids Workshop. Grocery store visits or errands can be made into a field trip as well. You just have to use your imagination and be creative.

I am so excited to be doing this. I treat my classroom and students as if it were normal school. Raising hands, asking to do something, lunch, school nurse, custodian, and principal. Everyone is involved and takes their jobs as if it were open to the public (although I think this make be a great idea in the near future). Here is the Mommy School Volunteer Staff and Students Roster for Summer 2013:

Mommy School's motto is "Every Parent Can Teach." I believe this whole hardheartedly. I have learned to be more patient, kind, understanding, and I thrive on the fact that I am doing my part as a parent here at home. I believe that it is not just up to professional educators to teach my children. It is also up to me as a mother to do what I can to make learning attainable for my little ones. And besides, it also helps the educators out when school returns. I am trying to do what I can now as a SAHM, because who knows when I will return back to work. I also want my children to have lasting memories as children.

Below is our school schedule. I do it weekly; something like Lesson Plans. Every week changes. The following calendar is for the final schedule w/o June 3rd- June 7th:

At the end of each week, I monitor the children's progress via weekly log. The following is my weekly log:

Oh, I almost forgot. I have two student volunteers (my nieces). My older niece will be assisting me full-time and I will give her volunteer hours. This is the sign-in and sign-out sheet that is used.

Here are just a few photos of the students (my babies)  at work. I also forgot to mention that I also have a nursery for my 5mth old. So, of course I included her as well.

Try New Recipes!! Step Out of The Box

Hi Exquisite Readers. I love to cook!! And although I am not an Iron Chef, I do like to try new recipes. I am a Food Network fanatic and have tried a lot of new menu items from different chefs on their network. I also like to take the recipes I am familiar with and find ways to improve them. At other times, I come up with my own, creative meals. I bore easily. In addition, I do find recipes online. Site I follow include All Recipes, Food Network, and Simple Recipes.
Here is a recipe I can up with. The items I prepared were garlic mashed potatoes, breaded pork chops, gravy, spinach, and dinner rolls. The great thing about making up new recipes is that you can call it what you want and add what you want. I this corn flake breaded pork chops.

Now lets start with the gravy!!!

On Medium Heat
1 pack of McCormick onion gravy, 1 1/2 cup of water, and sift 1/2 cup of all purpose flour.
I added 3 large Shitake mushrooms, 1/2 cup of diced red onions, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Keep sifting. The gravy will thicken because of the flour. Cook about 15mins.

This is what it should look like when finished
To make the mashed potatoes
On Medium Heat
1 pack of Idahoan Roasted Garlic & Parmesan Potatoes, 1/2 carnation milk,
2 teaspoons of Guacamole Mix (It adds a little twang)
1 1/2 cups of shredded extra sharp cheddar

Cook for 15 minutes. Stir, as potatoes will thicken.

This is what it should look like when finished
Now, time to bread the pork chops.

Preheat heat oven to 375 degrees
Makes 5 pork chops (not thick)
Use a non stick pan (for baking) or cover pan with foil and add 1 teaspoon of (evoo) extra virgin olive oil and rub into the pan.

In a 2nd pan, crush 4 cups of crushed corn flakes, 1 teaspoon of Morton season salt, 1 pack of Kraft Parmesan Tuscan Herbs, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, and a pinch of pepper (I don't use a lot of pepper because of my little girls). Take your pork chop and place it on top of your mixture and press down. Now flip it over and repeat to ensure the flakes stick. Place onto the non stick or foil covered pan. Sprinkle your mixture from pan 1 on the top of your pork chops and place in the oven for 30 mins on the bottom rack. Now, place the  pan on the top rack and put oven on broil for 2 minutes. This will add a crunch and brown the the flakes. Monitor this as it can burn quickly. Take out  and let cool.

Side Items
The rolls will be frozen, so place in oven for about 10 minutes on 350 degrees. Cook frozen spinach on stove for 10 minutes covered on medium and season with a pinch of salt.

The Finished Product

You can find these products at your local grocer. I shopped at Kroger. Please leave me a comment about what you think, any tips, or ideas you have.
